Default WG Steering Issues - pitman arm / sector shaft play

Hi Guys,

My Grand Cherokee WG has developed some pretty sloppy steering and now a clunk when jolted (eg. hitting a dip on an angle or turning up a driveway). Pulled things apart this weekend not a little stuck on what to do. Might have to put it back together as is to get it driving again.

After wiggling a few parts underneath I could see the tie rod ends were worn so this weekend I went to replace all 4. After pulling apart I notice that a lot of play and the clunk sound is coming from the pitman arm/sector shaft (see
). It's lateral play not vertical so I'm guessing it's buggered and not just a matter of adjustment. Perhaps new sector shaft bearings?

Can anyone advise on the best fix?
- Look for steering box from wreckers?
- Have this one rebuilt? Anyone in Adelaide? I have seen this on ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Jeep-Gra...-/280809629665
- other options?

Thanks in advance!

Dave

Mine did this when the ball joints were flogged out.
There's a few people wrecking WJ on Gumtree around Adelaide, adds might be old

Try the adjustment at the top of your steering box looks like it just needs tightening up there should be two nuts on top hold the outer one and adjust the inner one.
