Default VM engine heavier than 4.0L?

Anyone know how much heavier the VM2.5 is than the 4.0L petrol please?

trying to work out total additional weight on new coils ride height. I did search the VM sticky but no dice.
Thanks

Check out my Ride(s)
Default

AMC242 - 227kg
VM 425 OHV ~230kg
VM R425DOHC - 220kg.

Almost the same as 4l. 2.5CRD is ~10kg less.

Hmm, I don't get that... Seems general agreement that a 2.5TD XJ kerb weight is 1,630kg, and a 4.0 XJ kerb weight is 1,430kg-1,475kg (depending on info source / model year). So a TD is ~177kg heavier than a petrol.

Some modest variances in transmissions (e.g. NV3550 ~4kg heavier than AX5), axles etc, but surely the largest single factor in that different has to be the (fully dressed) engine, i.e. the weight is up-front on the coils. Am I missing something obvious??

There is a bit more to this than the extra weight. The weight distribution needs to be considered. If it results in extra weight in front of the axle, the increase in load on the front will be more than the additional weight. If the extra weight is behind the front axle it will be less. The best solution to your problem would be to have people place their petrol & diesel XJ's front wheels on a weigh bridge & compare.
