I wouldnt use a K&N air filter if you gave it to me.
They do not filter dust out well enough.
Their use on some earth moving equipment voids warranty.
Its funny seeing a K&N rep trying to promote his filters to a equipment owner when there is a CAT tech present that he doesnt know about. Once he finds out, he generally forgets how to speak English & leaves.
i just blow my paper element out with compressed air regularly.

On the topic of air filters, measuring the pressure between the turbine inlet and the air filter should show if the filter is performing as per the needs of the engine or not. I plan to do it at some point but it's very low on the priority list.

if anyone is interested in a k&n filter the part no. should be Kn332098 (same airbox as an excel)

i asked a few mechanics (3 different mechanics) and retailers (super cheap, burson, autobahn & repco) for k&n and got a lot of mixed reviews.

Retailers swore by the product swearing it was the best thing since sliced bread. When i mentioned that as a hig air flow filter a lot of dust and dirt from the track could end up in the engine the were pessimistic of the idea and that the filter would ensure nothing would enter the engine. Some suggested that if you wanted a washable filter, try some of the brands that are suited for 4x4s and dont provide the same amount of high airflow.

When i asked the mechanics where they stood a lot of them did agree that air flow sensors, MAF sensors can be destroyed by filters that can be manually oiled. they did say that 90% of the time it fell back on the owner who over oiled their filter some to the point where it was dripping.

Still unsure whether i will run one. Was thinking of using a K&N for road use and a standard disposable filter for offroad use (sounds like a lot of effort i know).

Water pumps:

You can find metal impeller water pumps on ebay.de, search "Jeep Cherokee 2.5 TD Wasserpumpe":

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Wasserpumpe-J...item4606fdd513

ASP-Eberle is a good seller, ships worldwide, speaks english. I got my Hella headlights from him, they shipped quick. I bet he stocks both sizes.
