Default JK Diesel Instrument Panel

Any ideas on what could be causing the following - 2008 Manual

Glow Plug symbol light on dash doesn't work but pretty sure glow plugs do

The digital instrument cluster that gives direction/ outside temp/DTE/litre per hundred etc yesterday became intermittent and today nothing at all showing.

Have disconnected battery but no change
No error codes on scan gauge
The glow plug symbol hasn't worked for a long time so don't think the two are related.

All other gauges and/or symbols seem to be working ok

The glow is pretty short with the CRD, I've never seen mine light up in eight years of ownership.

I'd be looking for a damaged wire or a look plug/connection.

Has anyone else noticed the poor quality of wiring on the JK's?

I have 2 (a 2008/2009 and 2009/2010) and they both have constant wiring issues. As it stands today I have the following outstanding issues:
  • Jeep1 - no OBD connector working
  • Jeep 1 - No number plate lighting (again)
  • Jeep 2 - no passengers side parkers (keeps blowing fuse)
  • Jeep 2 - no low beam head light (keeps blowing the fimament)
  • Jeep 2 - blew the gyroscope sensor under the centre console (replaced)
  • Jeep 2 - ODB connecter stopped working, Jeep 'repaired' it to calibrate the gyroscope sensor
  • Jeep 2 - intermittant failure of rear drivers door locks and window.
  • Jeep 1 - central locking keeps blowing fuse after a few days

And lets not mention the bare wires for 5mm out the back of the head light plugs and other shitty wiring jobs.

Wiring does seem "different" but I don't profess to know much sparky stuff hence booked into sparky next week - will post up findings.

Seems to be the whole cluster that is stuffed. Fix is to send it south to a place that specialises in this type of repair - if it can be - another option is to buy a compete 2nd hand instrument panel unit and have the speedo matched to current reading.
Apparently they haven't had a JK with this issue as yet.
Will chew on it abit -
