Were the GP's you took out faulty?
Is the GP controller ok? ~ have you measured the voltage when they should be glowing?
What codes are shown?

Yeah, glow plugs not working, as Lay back suggested cryptically. You can check each glow plug by reading the resistance to ground from the glow plug connector near the controller. Unplug it and measure each one. And yeah your controller could be stuffed. As always, consult the Service Manual for the exact pin out info.
I assume you are allowing the glow plugs to heat up before you start the engine? Does the little glow plug light come on and then go off after a few seconds? Honestly It's hard to imagine how it is cold enough at this time of year to need them all hot, so I suspect it's no power to the plugs either because you have blown the fuse or the controller is stuffed.

the light only flashes on when you turn the key on .It should stay on from 2-10 seconds according to the manual .
checked all the fuses and all good
it's my mates car and I'm trying to help him out .
he's replaced fuel pump, fuel filter and housing and all new glow plugs .
my old Merc was doing the same and it was the glow plug relay .
Now to find out where the controller is ?? LOL
never worked on a KJ before so its all new to me .

Did you use the correct glow plugs when you changed them? There are two different ones.

I spoke to the owner and he said it had ceramic plugs in it but he put metal ones in it .
it had this issue before he replaced the plugs ,sadly no change
do you have a pic/location of the controller so as I know where to start looking.
this is a bit harder to work on than my CJ6 and my FSJ .LOL
thanks for your input mate .
