night lighting so they can see in the cockpit without losing night vision?

I kinda thought it might be something to do with interior vision..
although I didnt know why that particular colour..I thought maybe he had picked up too many junky hitchhikers in his time..

well look at it this way, if you had a red light in the cockpit, think how angry and hot you would feel. Blue....... hmmm calming.

that glowing one must be a suzuki, it has the suzuki sierra guage panel in it

actually there is far more science behind it, not sure that was the reason behind his choice but is the reason for a lot of cars now going red/orange or blues

Night vision is controled by the rods in your eyes. These rods are optimised around the purple frequency of the light spectrum. Giving Red blue and green as acceptable ranges either side White light will react and close these rods killing your night vison

If you rub your eyes hard and you see a black/purlple almost cork board effect that the rods your seeing

sitting behind lights will not impact your night vision as much as looking straight at it (still reduces it)

This is the real reason your will see defence forces use red filters on their torches and most miltary equpment is red back lite


given the intesity of the lights in that pic I would say it is all bling but there is a still the science behind the choice by auto manufactures in modern cars
