Default 2.8 CRD Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor

Hi Guys,

Im sure the answer to this is in the threads - I have trawled through about 40 pages so far .... there is is just so much good info its overwhelming thanks to the collective knowledge bank - sorry to ask if its in here but...

Where or who can I buy a fuel rail pressure sensor from for the 2.8CRD (2011MY) in Australia

Its a Bosch 0281006160 part number

The googliser keeps pointing me to ebay - loads of non genuine China supplied "compatible" parts which at this point is not my preference to get.

Or a few in the UK - is there anyone here that I can try locally .

Thanks for the help guys.

Hi,

I'm located on North Side of Brisbane

I got a quote back from a mechanic this morning $1000+ for a new fuel rail with a new sensor and $880+ for a crank angle sensor - SACRY and that was without labour!!

Needless to say I'll be getting the sensors and replacing myself.

Fuel rail..

Might be worthwhile getting it in from a US supplier..

Any specialist diesel mechanic should be able to do it, and order a Bosch replacement (if needed). Look on the Bosch website for local installer.
Before you go booking it in check the plug to see if you have 5 volt signal and negative. (Youtube search fuel rail sensor test) Mine burnt through the negative cable somewhere near the block, was giving faulty fuel sender code, turned out sensor was fine just needed re splicing a new negative in.
I also believe you need specialist tools to re-crimp the sensor into the rail, but I could be wrong.
Good luck.

Thanks Freetripper much appreciated. I'll check that on the w/e - the jeep is cutting out while driving but very intermittently.

Seems that its a somewhat common problem on the 2.8CRD and can be traced to
-intank fuel pump - I replaced that
-cam position sensor - I replaced that
-crank angle sensor - in progress when I get hold of one
- fuel rail pressure sensor - in progress when I get hold of one

With regards to replacing replace the crank angle sensor - Haven't going digging for it yet but I do get mixed answers as to where its located.

Just behind the heat shield on the drivers side (RHD model) or
at the bottom of the bell housing or
just up and above the starter motor.

None of that is an issue but I dont want to go digging in the wrong direction.

I did notice a sensor plug at the very bottom of the bell housing (6oclock position) just infront of the sump pan - the wire for this disappears up inside the bell housing - I hope this is not it as that seems to be major surgery to change that out.

Once again thank to all you jeepers out there - the collective knowledge here is invaluable.
