Default XJ flasher relay issue

Hi there I have a 96 XJ 4.0

My issue is the flasher relay...

On the rear end I have replaced all the bulbs with LED's (indicators have load resistors wired in).

Up front I have standard bulbs in the usual places and side markers. I have installed additional LED bulb's in the orange lenses which are not required on the Australian model. (NO load resistors installed yet)

My issue, when using the hazard button, ALL indicators work normal and the relay sounds normal.

Using the turn signal, its like hyper flashing then it stops. I get may be two flashes max.

My gut tells me the relays shot ?

Also I was reading some info on a Narva website about relays. If I understood it correctly, each relay has a MAX number of bulbs that can be on the circuit, is that correct ?. Which can be determined from the info stamped on side of relay.

So I have on each side 2 x LED & 2 x standard bulbs...

All bulbs are working, as I said they work normal on the Hazard button...

Does the 96 XJ use the same relay for the hazard/indicators circuits ?.

Reply's greatly appreciated

regards Rob

see my recent post about a '96 flasher relay..I think they get suspect.

They are not common, I found the part num by searching this forum

I would replace the LED globes with incandescent as a 1st course of action

In my case ( permanent flashing of Hazards, even with key out), removing and re-installing the relay stopped it doing that

Check the nearby on dash bottom earth screw

I suspect the door harness wiring issues are somewhat involved, as my hazards are sometimes triggered by using the PS door

Yes xj flasher relay has hazard and indicators in one relay.
Take the cover off and check for a bad solder joint.
Normally the issue.

this sounds very feasible as I took mine out and squeezed it, put it back in.

my A/C relay did that to, but I replaced it

the ebay ad notes the replacement relay is larger, its a bit tight for space on a '96
