The Fridge

Here is another way to build a camper. The whole thing is made from honeycombed fibreglass panels. Basicly the same as what commercial fridges are made from. Everything is gal dipped, stainless steel or aluiminuim if its not fibreglassed.
Roof is hinged at the back and lift up at the front to give 8 foot clearance but is just over 6 foot to tow. Only weighs 750kg fully loaded. Is around the same width and wheel track as the JK and is only 3.6m long from treg hitch to tail. Has a 60 litre water tanks, 100 amp deep cycle battery, 12v /240v system, recharge from JK or mains with onboard charger, or up to a 10amp solar panel (120watt)
storage under bed, pullout kitchen on side. Will post more soon. Orignal designed and built by a guy called Dallas Baron and upgraded with most of the extras by me. I'll get some photos of the roof up and the slide out stove

the door looks like it hangs low but it is not as low as the chassis. I'm going to fit a skid plate to protect it along with rear skid plates for rear protection as it's a little lower than I would like. Now that the JK has been lifted I'm thinking of lifting the camper as well 4 inches to improve ramp over angle. We can store 4 massive boxes under the bed (2 on each side) along with the 4 smaller ones for thoses odd bits and pieces.


Battery to run all the lights and fridge. Charger for when we are on mains and also a number of 12v and 240v outlets. Small inside bench for when its cold in the mornings to boil the jug etc. Fridge is on slides and is a very old Engel fridge. Custom made transit bag by me. Indoor / outdoor temp on side of bench. (yet to be finished)


Fridge slides out the whole way and is very easy access from the door since the kitchen is a pullout type. Switches for all 12 volt electrics (built in fuses in panel) water tank meter, Volt meter, and 2 12v outlets. One standard cig type, one narva pin type. 10 amp solar reg and battery indicator, 240 volt earth leakage protected outlet.

and of course custom signage. Dallas Baron is a very fine builder and built a very cleaver one off camper. It was a shell when we got it and I finished off the electrical systems and put in the bench and extra storage shelves over the wheel arches. Will post photos of the annexe and top up soon along with the stove out. Oh yer, the spare is on the back along with a towel rail to counteract the front weight. Ball weight loaded is 75kg

Aussie: what a camper!! The easiest and cheapest and effective way of giving 4" to its height would be to sling the axle beneath (not inside) the leaf springs.

Sorry guys my hosting site was over it bandwidth. I have moved them to photobucket.

Here it is in the up position. Heaps of room to stand at the front and extra airflow through the windows on the canvas section.
The kitchen area slides out and has storage under the bench with a 4 burner stove top and wind shield for nasty weather. The awning is attached to the camper with a sleeve along the edge. (not shown)


The camper fits nicely behind the JK and has the same wheel track.
