hahaha what a load, they just don't want to admit they have been rorting us this whole time.

Could have at least put in some heavy duty use spin or some such.

At the very least we should get the same service intervals as the USA
Yep, it was always BS and everyone knew it, but now that we are coming out of warranty we can do what we want. And that they are now moving to 12 month intervals I might be more comfortable to follow. Maybe I'll go to 9 months (~8000kms)

Today's diesels IMO only need servicing every 10,000klm or 12 months.
Better combustion, through high pressure direct injection and also the improvements in engine oils, makes extending service intervals sensible.
The old days of port injection and huge amounts of soot, are well behind us, you don't even see trucks bellowing smoke anymore.

Well we do pay enough for our oil, a shame to be throwing it away after 6 months.

Check all of the service manuals available online. Oz is the only country with 10,000km service interval. Everywhere else it's 10,000 miles with oil changes as per the oil life indicator (which is only ever down to around 50% by the time my "10,000km" service is due). Who says we're getting ripped off?

I had my car serviced this week and asked about the change to the service intervals and the dealer said they knew nothing about it.
