Default Roof Rack options. Backbone kit any good?

I'm looking to install roof racks on the JK's Fibreglass hardtop and would really like to avoid the complete system with bars running down to the body/chassis.

I'm liking the idea of the Rhino backbone system and was wondering if anyone had any good or bad experience with it.

With the 3 bars installed, its good for 120kg, or with 2 bars 100kg, I don't plan to ever exceed or even come too close to these figures. It'd basically be used for camp chairs, the tent (not rooftop, just the tent itself), stretcher beds etc all the bulky stuff thats not too heavy but takes up too much room in the cabin.

Is this the only real option for me? It does seem quite expensive for what you get, I'm estimating the backbone system and 3 bars is around $1000.

Back bone system will run between $1500-1900 with a flat platform depending on who's selling it to you and if your installing yourself.

I have a roof cage/basket already, its a smaller one but fits the stuff I carry nicely.

So really I need at least the backbone mount kit which I can get for $400 plus shipping for the 3 bar kit. Plus I'd need to work out what bars I'm going to use.
I was just thinking that possibly I can make some brackets to attach the cage directly to the backbone mounts without using bars.

$961 is the rrp for the vortex 3 bar backbone set up. Autobarn regularly has 15% off all rhino systems and accessories. I have been deciding whether or not to get one for a while now. The only thing I would have up there would be an awing so I can't justify nearly 1k for abit of shade.
