Default stock, are they the same

Hi guys,

xj jeep 96 177k stock

Looking for leaf springs rear. saw this

http://4x4point.com.au/cart/index.ph...roducts_id=235

My question is this:

How do you correctly identify the part needed to replace? it seems they can have different parts with different code numbers. How do I know what where to look for the right category number please?

Only looking to replace rear leaf, not the rest.

Thankyou
jason

For a start, is your XJ one with upcountry suspension (a sport with blue shocks) or a normal suspension one with black shocks. UPcountry will be 1" higher than stock. You can get them off american sites usually labelled as 'heavy duty' leaf springs.

there is a couple of things

A "Sports" model will also have 1" lift springs as standard

You can measure mid-hub to flare to ascertain your height

a VIN check will show what model you have, if unknown.

if the rear leafs are sagged like mine were, I swapped out my sagged rears first with 2" lift springs, these are technically 1" lift for a Sport, but raised my rear 3" due to sag

then I swapped the 2" lift coils, which lifted my Sports 1"

It looked and drove ok with rear raked up in the meantime

Hamish, the shocks were changed just before I bought the jeep so couldn't say.

Awg, I was told the leafs could be a different width to the stock leaf springs. When searching they are quoting part and model numbers. Which is why I am asking how to find what mine re exactly.

I will do a vin check. Under the bonet it reads April 96 biuld. It is a limited, rhd, Australia.

I just dont want to order a wrong item.

If its a limited, probably not upcountry. Does it have any bash plates on the front, transfercase and fuel tank?

And the leaf width will be 2.5". It's the same across all XJ's.
