I would love to update the head unit, but also to work with the amp as it has real good sound with the boston speakers and keep the steering wheel controls.
such a shame about the stupid shape as well but i could work something out with that.

I like the idea of this, it would sit in front and cover the original cut out.

Thanks all
Having the steering wheel controls function on any new install is critical for me.
Like the unit shown in Clarky's last post. Pity it doesn't support iPods

I bought this one. Fitted nice (in about 30 minutes).. Plus pulling the reverse camera wiring through.. Plugged straight into existing, no cutting, steering wheel controls. Pull on handbrake in order to watch DVD though.

Been great for over a year now. no probs. Cheers

I thought about the drop in ones with the stock shape, but it limits you to a smaller screen and also they usually have an older version of android and less features for almost twice the price. In my opinion it was better just to get a universal one with the latest android and features, plug and play was easy, the only difference been making the hole bigger to fit the double din, which I will tidy up anyway. also I believe you can buy adaptors to make stock steering controls work.

I think something like what clarky suggested would be perfect, It will fill up the space nicely with the big 10" screen.

Hemijeep: if you want to watch dvds without pulling the hand break just connect the brake wire to the ground wire.
