Unhappy Stalling

Okay, CRD owners I need your help.

I am having an issue with an engine miss that at times stalls the motor.
Every 60 seconds or so when idling the engine drops revs and cuts out, if I bump the revs up it doesn't seem to happen. If I turn the aircon off it reduces the number of times it stalls but it still has the miss/stumble. When it stalls it restarts without a problem.

At speed it drives fine, runs like it always did. just an issue when stop start driving.

It tends to be more noticeable when you go to accelerate from a dead stop, as soon as you touch the accelerator the engine misses and it stalls, If I push firm on the accelerator it still stumbles but it picks up and its okay. When engine is hot it sometimes just stalls when sitting at the lights in D with foot on the brake without warning.

I originally thought it was my torque converter locking (known issue with NAG1's) but I have since changed out my transmission and torque converter and it still persists.

It is an intermittent fault that is now becoming more frequent.
Fuel/oil/air filters have been changed and oil is the correct 5w30.

My thoughts are:
1. electrical/sensor fault in throttle body
2. Turbo actuator as its also blowing more black smoke under hard acceleration then it used to.
3. Injectors as it has 242,000km (150,000 miles) on them.

Thats gotta suck.
Have you tried or have you use a good quality injector cleaner ?
Try this mob they are 100% aussie https://costeffective.com.au/, i have used their products and they seem good, but in saying that i havent had an issues to start with.
they have all sorts of cleaners etc for CRD's

Might be worth a shot as i cant imagine the injectors being cheap.

Don’t replace injectors! Try Cleanpower first…most injectors just need a thorough clean! and thats their words from the site https://costeffective.com.au/product...uel-treatment/

I would love to know the out come if you get any.

$465 a pop. Have used costeffective for years, maybe why I got 242,000 out of them.

Will pull the injectors from my spare engine, VP says there plug and play so hopefully this will sort it.

Black smoke on acceleration & rough idle do point toward dribbling injectors
BUT it could also be a sensor issue

Have you cleaned your inlet manifold ???
That'd be where I'd start

The thing is it idles fine other then the skip, It can idle for an hour without doing it (especially when I'm fault finding) without missing a beat and the black smoke is only when the foot is firmly planted to the fire wall at 4000 odd RPM.

Inlet manifold has never been off.

I am tossing up wether to just do a complete engine swap as I have a glow plug stuck in one head, a coolant leak somewhere in the valley and the engine skip. All the little things are adding up.

I will swap out the injectors (when the new seals and bolts arrive) from my spare engine as this is not a hard job and there's no coding required for these engines.

Will get the spare engine on an engine stand and start a top end refresh, get the manifolds de-gunked, new seals on the oil cooler etc.

Clarky do you run a second Fuel filter before your factory filter ?
if not do you think that may have helped ?
