Question Redarc DCDC charger installation

Hi, I'm a new member and haven't found any threads which cover my specific query.
I'm fitting a Redarc 1225 DCDC charger for the fridge battery in my 2021 GC Overland which has a "smart" alternator and the instructions say to connect the blue wire to a 12v ignition-on point to enable it to charge even when the alternator is in low output mode.
I've considered tapping in to the 12v outlet in the cargo area, however that is on at times even when the engine isn't running so I'm not sure if that would be a problem.
Does anybody know of a better way to do this, ideally in the cabin, as that is where the charger will be installed? Any help would be appreciated.

I always thought the blue was to switch the unit off when engine was shut down to stop battery drain, at least it was in earlier units I have fitted.......... not familiar with the 21 WK2 set up but I have fitted a few Redarcs and found on Fords and some other smart alt jobs, I would ground the Ve- (NEG) lead to battery from the unit to the battery ground cable on the body not the battery itself, this seemed to stop the units from having charging dramas with smart alternators.....

If you have a tow harness fitted you may find a feed there which is only active with ignition on, depends how it was wired..

It looks like it now serves a dual purpose. I'll check out the tow harness. Thanks for the suggestion.
