Default Damit... put 13lt Ulp, Then 80lt Diesel, and 700ml of TCW3... What Do You Think???

Hi guys,

Had a fubar today and put ULP in the car got to13lt and realised and then squeezed in 80lt of diesel to dilute it. Luck I was empty but I put around 15% ULP.

From past experience with a mates patrol the biggest problem with ULP is its lack of lubrication and that if you havent put more then 15%-20% ULP in you can address this with a heavy dose of 2 stroke Oil to counter the ULP.

living just around the corner (500m) I drove home and put in 700ml-850ml of tcw3. drove it today and its fine no smoke, no cough, no surge its actually quieter to be honest.

Now I know its not ideal and the VM A630 is a modern diesel but I think it will be fine.

Whats everyone elses view on this out of curiosity?

Well you have done it so it doesnt matter what people think.
You may find combustion temps will be hotter. I wouldnt be pushing it too hard, dont need to soften the pistons or head.

I will let you know how it goes...most of the info I read online is that a little ULP is not great but its not the end of the world...

What ive read and what we did to my mates TD42 was add a little tcw3 to keep everything lubricated, not thrash it and keep refilling it daily to keep diluting it. These weren't Jeep forums but they where modern crd diesels eg audi, vw, ford.

Thought I would get som fellow ausjeep opinions

Not sure of the percentages (5% rings bells) but Alpine diesel is diesel with petrol added and we all cheerfully buy it.

Dont know if such blending is still a practice by the oil companies. The cloud point for diesel varies from month to month & state to state over Australia. That is why one needs to be careful filling a truck in North Qld mid winter & driving it to Vic.
One doesnt buy bulk diesel mid summer & then use it through winter. If it was left in the cold in the cars tank for a few days during frosty conditions, problems may occur.
The owners book for Mercedes diesel cars from the 70's through the 90's does recommend blending ULP into diesel if cloud point problems are occurring. I have added nearly 10% ULP to summer diesel so it didnt cause major problems. It caused the car to become a bit gutless & EGT's go up by about 50 C . This was not a CRD though.
I see that the OP has chosen to drain his tank so the discussion has become some what academic.
