Default MY WJ LIFT HELP

Hi all

Dont know if its been a topic but has anyone had any issues with thier 2" suspension lift On a 99WJ V8 Limited

ie; Drive line vib, control arm length any probs what so ever.

Also what combo kite to use

I got a price on 2" Lovells springes and Tough Dog shocks and Return too centre Stearing damp for just under $1200

Rancho said I'd have issues if I did the 2" lift Also they only surply a Shock at standard hight RSX for $165each no springs

King Springs surply 1" springs for $185 each

Another thing is what about the kick it gives when you come to a stop sounds like its from the Trans or the Diff HELP

Please HELP I'm confused

1TJ,
I'm also looking into several 2-2.5" lifts for my V8 Laredo. I'm also trying to find any problems or hazards invovled on each kit. Mark made a good argument for the OME stuff to be put on by them at Suburban. I'm looking in the States as well as here and plan on doing some questions this weekend at the 4X4 show. Keep us updated whichever way you go on your lift and I'll do the same...

Hi 1TJ40L.
I have fitted a set of Pedders coils that lifted my 03 Ltd 40 - 45 mm. Ride is firmer but not harsh. Haven't replace the shocks yet as car only had 2 - 3000 ks when fitted & I was too tight to go the whole hog. Just replaced the steering damper at 25,000 kms & altho original was OK, I can notice a big improvement so shocks will be done soon. I dont feel a return to centre damper is necessary or would provide much benefit.
I am not a great fan of King springs as I feel they are ususally too heavy & ruin ride quality. OME are great but couldn't give me specifics on ride height.
One common complaint on this board is that lift kits usually arent exactly what is claimed .
Immediately on lifting the Jeep I noticed a diff/driveline noise that was rectified by replacement of the front driveshaft under warranty ( original CV type shaft transmits & ampifies normal diff noises).
No issues with caster & driveline angle changes on such a small lift & no need for adjustable control arms.
Future plans are some small spacers (1 - 1.5 ") when shocks replaced & slightly larger tyres.
HTH
David

Check the rear arm bushes, upper arm balljoint for wear & play. Also make sure rear driveshaft splines into transfer case are well lubicated
