Default US shipping help for a odd bit of gear

OK so Ive managed to source some really nice American Oak timber side rails for the Scrambler...really cheap!

Ive looked at normal shipping places UPS etc and it ranges from $200 to about $350 to get them back over here....making it not workable.

Package up they would weigh about 15kgs and be about 175cm long.

Anyone give me a hint on some other shipping companies, container sharers etc etc?

THANKS

Try contacting several of the small dealers that import used cars from the US, unless you know anyone in this industry....I used one once for bringing in my Hanson rocker guards - I was put onto him by a mate, he charged me nothing to load them into the back of a pick up coming over from California to Melb. He then only charged me $80 as they are dam heavy (5mm) to bring up to QLD with him in his car, he was coming up this way for a holiday.

Worked out great.

Have you checked with AQIS to ensure you can import it? Timber products may need to be treated before they can be cleared for pick up/delivery.

Ive imported 3 sets of tyres so far one lot of 5 weighed 72kg and they cost $250 that was through fedex ..but that was them doing the deal from there end.....it wouldnt be very hard to make a set of scrambler hungry boards if you had the excact specs to go from ...tassie oak is similar to american oak it would be hard to tell the diff...mick

yeah Mick, Ive got all the specs, but had no luck finding anyone who could make em. Woodworkers were either too old, too angry, too bigger job, or too small a job. Ive worked out how to get them back now....I think, so hopefullly all good
