Default Diesel Fueling Point

Has anyone come across anything to replace the stupid fill point set up on these things?

I don't like the flap instead of a cap idea and the flap about 40mm inside the tube is a bluddy pain if trying to fill with a Jerry Can or anything else other than a low flow nozzle. A funnel with a long enough hose to open the inner flap is not wise as the funnel is at about eye height so not a good move.

If the flap release is knocked or left open all sorts of crud/water will build up around opening and no way to clear it.........big fail in my opinion....

So hoping someone has done the hard yards before i starting pulling things off to measure bits up and see what can done to make it a more sensible and all round filler point.........

No one mention that totally useless funnel they provide, if anything shows they had no idea in the design dept that is the thing, be good for a lawn mower but not something that wants 20 or 30 lts..........

I agree using a jerry can is a pain in the "A". Thought I was smart and bought a 12v transfer pump only to find it fits in round drum openings but won't quite fit in the jerry cans because the metal openings aren't totally round and the plastic ones have a smaller opening than the old 4 gallon drum type!!!!!

Get a long range tank fitted, filler is replaced with a conventional/functional design. Easy to fill and the range++++++!

Yep @johnnywall my thoughts along those lines is to get a 12v fuel pump, hose on either end to decant into tank, had one years back worked well with my Landy.....

LR tank would be good and I would really like the bank account to afford one, replacing the current filler with something more akin to normal though is the option and while I could probably make a LR tank, the amount of time I actually need that extra room nowadays is overkill, just the odd jerry can to make sure... I don't do the Gun Barrel anymore, age and retirement has its downside and bastard roads is one of them.........

Have you tried a jiggle hose with a jerry instead?
Just sit the jerry up higher, even on the roof rack, jiggle it and let the sucker siphon in while you drink the rest of your coffee.

The filler spout I have for my jerry can actually opens up both internal flaps before fuel actually starts to flow, fits lovely, no drips or splash back,
I do agree on one thing though I am not a huge fan of these late model capless fuel set ups especially on a bloody diesel !
after all the bullshit that goes with water and common rail diesel disasters, So I actually made a cap of my own using an fuel old cap, Looks the ants pants, can hose the crap out of the filler door and inlet remains dry, whilst still retaining OEM Filler, I,II stick a picture up, too bloody cold going up to the shed now

Have seen alloy caps on Ebay for the WK2. Look to be push to seal o-ring jobs. I always grab a bit of rag or towel and wipe the filler clean before I refuel and wipe it dry after.
