On-road handling is much more important to me than any slight gains in off-road performance a taller tyre might offer.
PS. Good point about the 255's being an oddball size and possibly harder to source if needing replacement.
Troutman, I have 255/70R16's (Hankook Dynapro AS - came w/the WJ Ltd). I have not had any rubbing. I do have 'up-country' suspension, if that makes any difference opposed to stock. Decent tire overall, mainly geared towards on-road & wet I think, but have handled a variety of mud, sand, rocks, quite well.

I'll be up for a new set in about a year and wondering if I'll get a 255/75 or at least 245/75 on without rubbing. Tossing up between Cooper ATR or BFG AT. I have the same need for on-road performance during the week as a mall crawler for the wife, but I would like a liitle more off-road performance on the weekends, when I actually get to drive it & take it bush.

I wonder if there is way to determine if there is going to be rubbing before you buy?

Thanks for that info Barfoot. My Laredo also has the Up Country suspension, so might be worth reconsidering....decisions, decisions.

Yea, I have the 30mm tough dog spring upgrade and could probably go higher... but keeping the speedo as close as possible to accurate was important for me...

cheers

Well... just had the BFG 245/70/r16 fitted today...

The car drives like a totally different car than when I had the 225/75/r16's on.

Much better ride and it appears the "wobble" is far less noticable.

Gives it a much "tougher" look as well.

Very happy with them... thanks for all the advice here!

Cheers,
Chumby.
