When they put your engine back together and fill it up with fluids, I would def be requesting the right coolant from the get go.

I think a few guys have, at least on the petrols, not sure about CRD's.
For petrol guys though, if they have overheating issues, it's usually when they're driving slow (on sand, rock crawling, etc) so they need lots of fans to move air through the radiators when stationary/moving slow.
But for CRD's, our engines run cool as (mine is around 76 degrees at idle in summer) at slow speeds (thanks to the engine oil cooler), but as soon as they start labouring (i.e. hauling weight or turning huge tyres) with the turbo boosting 10+ psi for a prolonged period everything gets hot real quick and this usually happens when you're driving and faster speeds and therefore have plenty of air rushing through the grill etc so fans aren't a huge deal, rather CRD's need more cooling capacity (i.e. more coolant capacity, more radiator surface area, more oil capacity (our CRD's have a ridiculously small oil capacity in comparison to other CRD's), more effective heat extraction (i.e. bonnet vents, etc).
Cos you've got a manual, I think you will be absolutely fine.
