Default Update: Side Right Column

Don't panic just yet, this is still under development. Just be patient please.

What we are looking at is increasing the exposure of our valued vendors, but in doing this, we are wanting to split the advertising that is shown on the site, to a minimal increase for REGISTERED USERS, and a larger increase for GUESTS.

This is taking some tinkering by Blind-eddie who thinks he has it sussed on our clone site.

If you are really at odds with seeing them on the right hand side, simply collapse the menu using the . If you do all three panels, you will recover about 20% of your screen width.

Is there any progress on this? It's a pain to have to go and minimise those three boxes each time I login. Not happy about that change, and its so annoying I'm not likely to ever buy anything from those vendors on principle. Giving up a third of the page column width to advertising, plus the top and bottom banner ads, seems to be turning this forum into another version of 4WD TV where every segment is an ad.

Glend our costs have gone up significantly in the last 12 mths for hosting, up by over 25%

As mentioned no we havnt got to working through the guest/member solution fully yet. Running into some permissions issues with forum sections.

Having those square ads on the right hand column simply brings in some extra cash to cover that so its not coming out of my hip pocket. Also having them on the right means you are reading from the left and it doesn't affect the thread viewing.

I would say if its taking up 33% of your screen, that your resolution on your screen is set too low.

Heres my screen, as you can see its actually taking up less than 20% of the screen width.

If changing your screen resolution isn't a solution for you, maybe try installing an ad blocker on your web browser, that way every single advert that appears will not appear for you, thereby making your experience better and taking money away from the site for hosting.

Your call mate.

I'm only seeing the RHS ads when I'm on an index page - hardly even notice them to be honest.
