Yeah most of the ford petrol heads I know go

BP then Mobile then shell only if there is no other choice but this is also dependant on state as the Vic tunners love optimax with dyno results to back it up

http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/in...showtopic=9932

The poster APS is the guy who owns air power systems Australia which are very famous of turbo tunning and high performance cars in Aus

I use to use shell only mainly as in the early days they fixed the price of premium to be 5c/l above standard where the other would fluctuate anywhere from 5c to 25c/l now the market for premium sis so much bigger it is a lot more competitive

Now I get for the wifes car which ever 98 ron fuel is cheap at the time

The heap gets the cheapest dirtest crap fuel around

MARXY

Nothing in particular wrong with Optimax in our Saabs..... it's just that there was a common perception that we got better performance from the Synergy. With most of us running near 20 pounds of boost out of our turbos, the Mobil tended not to pre-ignite so readily (ping), and we could turn down the water-injection a notch or two - meaning we could go further on the water injection reservoir between fillups. Both fuels are rated at 98RON. When we get 100RON here in Oz, I will be a happy chappy.

Most also reported to get slightly better mileage - although that's really impossible to discern given that driving through traffic one day will be completely different the next. You'd need a good long run on a dyno under controlled conditions to really tell I suspect.

The whole idea of using PULP in these cars in particular is so that we can turn our boost up to get extra power - with a higher pre-ignition threshold. There is a common misconception that PULP fuel will give any old car a power boost. It is denser though - so you may gain better mileage from the deal - but don't expect power unless you have a car that can generate it.

100 octane fuel mmmm, how about BP RF100?

And yeah Mobil Syndergy 8000 is the stuff that Factory Motocross race teams use.

Just a bit of info you might find interesting. Just because you fill up at a BP service station, doesn't mean you get fuel from a BP refinery. The oil companies have reciprocal agreements for fuel supplies to various markets. For the most part you get fuel from one of the refineries in your state.

Yeah, that right. The variation in performance, economy or whatever comes from the variation in that particular batch of fuel not the brand. 98 one day might be 98.2 or 98.8 the next. (Is never less than 98 though) Even fuels with the same octane rating will perform differently. The time of year makes a diference too.
