Default Jeep resale valuations...

Its sad but of a list nine popular SUV's on the market today the Jeep Cherokee resale value is ranked just seventh....I wonder how they come up wth these figures.
According to Glasses Red Book a 1996 Jeep Cherokee is only worth a little over 16% of it original value, a Toyota 'Cruiser of the same vintage is worth 27%!!
On a positive note, in the passenger car field, a '96 Ford Falcon is worth not even 9%!
Check them out here....

Take those figures with a very large grain of salt, however bare in mind that mid 90's Cruiser's had a major advantage when the Yen went through the roof, Toyota started de-speccing the cars and charging $10-$15K more for them. It was possible for a while to actually get a straight c/o from an old Cruiser into a new one. The flip side of that is the Aussie dollar strengthened in relation to the U.S Dollar and Jeeps have continued to come down in price. If you want to see scary devaluation buy a 318 or similar BMW or worse still, a 7 series or S class Merc, then you'll see how much money you can lose....

All this is based on real world wholesale figures not the somewhat questionable Glass's or Redbook figures.l

Unfortuantly regardless of whether we agree or disagree with the figures they are taken straight out of Glasses guide to used car values and you can be sure car salesman nationwide will shove it in your face when you front up to buy a new one...and yes, according to Glasses a 1996 Cherokee cost $42000..yet I can still recall the ads on TV... $39000 drive away, no more to pay!!
