towball
oo! its 220 not 114. thats better
that seems pretty high for the towball downward weight.
Quoted from the owners manual
The tongue weight for the 4.0L gasoline (maximum vertical load at the
trailer tow coupling point) must not be less than 97kg but cannot exeed 130kg.
75kg and 100kg for the diesel.
Gross trailer weight is 3250kg for the 4.0l and 2500kg for the diesel.
Good Luck with.

Its all Black Magic.
My 2000 Petrol has a Hayman Reece Bar, 3300kg max GTM, 120kg ball weight stamped on the plate.
When you read the manual
2.5 Deisel GTW 1400kg Max vertical load 210kg
4.0 Petrol 2268kg 340kg
When you read the manual fine print:
"The tongue weight for the 4.0.gasoline engine (maximum vertical load at the trailer coupling point) must not be less than 226kg but cannot exceed 340kg"
"For the 2.5 deisel the toungue weight(maximum vertical load at the trailer coupling point) must not be less than 140kg but cannot exceed 210 kg."
Go figure......... I use the 2268 GTM and then keep my ball weight reasonable - usually 120-140kg.

On all new tow bars it states that the towbar rating may be different to the manufacturers rating and to read the owners manual.

Reading the owners manual for my 2001 diesel it gives a minimum tow ball weight. I suspect this is a printing error as there is no maximum. It would be worth while looking at your manual & reading what it says. If any one was ever put over the scales & told there was a problem, producing the manual would probably muddy the water enough to get you out of trouble. ~ well thats my plan.

My 95 gives minimum and maximum towball weights, for the 4 litre petrol it states minimum 98kgs and max 130kgs, yet my genuine Jeep towbar states 114kgs max, I ignore the minimum, with my camper trailer I try to keep it around 70kgs, more them that and I can feel the difference, at around 70kgs it tows brilliantly (long distance use)...
