I'm having trouble focusing at work

It's going to take a while for all the voices in my head to settle down

Keep opinions coming for sure.

If you are thinking of engine swapping then I have noticed that the 4.7 uses a very similar bolt pattern to the previous chrysler small blocks, 5.2 & 5.9L engines. I have been working on a couple of 4.7L engines recently and I didn't actually check it with a earlier trans but by eye they look the same.
In fact the 4.7L block looks very much like the original chrysler small block only with the valley cast over for the overhead cams.
All that doesn't help much except it may give you some other options like considering a magnum 5.9L motor.
The real hassle with any engine conversion is the necessary engineering report because if you were to retrofit with a early small block of for that matter any other makes engine you may have trouble meeting emissions testing necessary for the engineers reporting requirements.

And to convert and not get an engineering report for a major modification leaves you open to insurers who will not pay if you ever need to claim.

The 3 Litre V6 diesel out of the WH used the same 5 speed transmission as the 2002 on WG/J.
Should make it a easy bolt in and a nice fit.

Don't go with an ls swap, thats what all the other 4wds do, do you really want to be like them?
Unless its an LSA, that can be excused

I think stronger internals with a supercharger would be great value, got to remember you driveline and brakes will need to handle the increased power too.

As for a ford engine i do know of a 302 windsor sitting in a crate at my parents place if you want to go that route.

First chance to look at this thread, Hoobz and I have been chatting (had plenty of time on the drive home with his WG in tow ),
a lot of what's been mentioned we discussed.
I had suggested the WH 4.7 or 3.0 CRD might be worth consideration.

This should be fun hey Hoobz.

Cheers,
Ruffy.
