Default Back space Std MY02 Tj Steel Wheel ??

Son has jus got one a few weeks back. We're thinkin of getting bigger boots which means better wheels or does it?

at Least 32's for now and room for 33's later ...

Thanks for your help.

better wheels ?

Original wheels are 5.5 backspacing I believe. 32 will rub on full turn but can be fixed by adjusting the steering stops.

Howdee
My 97 TJ runs 32s on 15 X 8 rims with rubbing on full lock.
There are heaps of threads here saying this can be sorted by adjusting the steering stops, either by longer bolts or inserting washers.
I spent a long time under the front end and am none the wiser seeing what can be adjusted.
Any further info would be gratefully received.

Wes its an easy job that any mechanic can do for you.
Shouldn't cost you more than 40-50 bucks.
Thats assuming you got no idea.
Otherwise look for a bolt that has a lock nut on it that hits on full lock and adjust it out until your wheels don't touch. It needs to be adjusted both sides.

Cheers Paul

Thanks Paul,
found the bolts although there is only tyre rub on the passenger side.
Slight chassis rub on both sides.
Not wanting to hijack the thread, Gravel was wanting to know if bigger meats means bigger rims.
As stated previously my 97 TJ runs 32s on 15 X 8 rims and has two spares on 15 X 7 rims. The tyre fitters were very reluctant to mount that size tyre on the 15 X 7 rims until I promised they were for use as spares only and I'm under the impression this is unsafe practice and illegal in some states.
