Default Cargo Barrier

I now have enough gear in the back of my 2000 XJ that a cargo barrier seems a prudent move. Especially since I bought a Tirfor winch. I dont like the thought of that coming forward at 100 km/hr.

4WD systems have a dual position barrier that sounds appealing. Any advice from happy (or unhappy!) experience of any type of barrier welcome.

I don't believe that 4WD systems Jeep barrier is dual position - I think those are just for the Landsnoozers, Pootrols, etc. Best to ring and check - talk to Tom, he's very helpful.

I fitted the Milford to mine as was only one that would go in at the forward position behind the front seats with the back seat removed - which is how we set up for touring. Fitting is fiddly to say the least.

Think i saw a cargo barrier to suit you on Ebay. You'll prob need the installation kit (nutsert kit) for anything you buy second hand, but still heaps cheaper than buying a new one. Installation is not that hard, i did my one and it works great.
Highly recommend cargo barrier for safety - being on the bad end of prangs, i've seen what loose stuff is capable of.
Cheers
Ian

I have a milford dual position cargo barier as well in my 97 classic XJ. When I bought it the supplier said they only fit sports and limited, not classics. I phoned Milford and they stated they only put sports and limited in the brochure as they had problems fitting one to a classic once as it hit the ceiling. As he guarenteed money back if it didn't fit I purhcased it anyway and it fitted fine in both positions.

put in a 2nd hand one in my classic if they have the mountain kit take it as I paid $84 for the kit as( it didn't come with one) about 3 years ago If you use it in the forward position you need to remove the rear seat squab from the vehicle also when its in this position because of bottom fixing points you will be unable to lift the back of the seat to get to your jack if needed

Good point FredE, I have never needed to get to my jack with the barrier in the forward position, so far!
