Bomber,

Just thought about what I posted and I have got it wrong. The diameter of the 245/70 is about 25mm more than stock which gives a height increase of only half that - about 12mm.

Still a great lift you got. I've had a Rocky Road spacer lift on my Grand for over 18 months and got the same order of lift as you have - great for off-road but doesn't solve the inherent poor stock suspension issues.

Like you and many others I've been in the ARB queue but will now give your supplier a call - many thanks for the information.

Cheers

Kevin

Kev, you are right the second time . Lift was measured with the bigger tyres already om, so front is now 72mm above stock and rear 82 .

Tyres are the Mickey Thompson ATZs and I love them. Not quite as meaty as the STs for mud work but plenty tough enough for rocks & sand as far as I can tell so far, and waaay quieter - they sing to you rather than whine the way the STs do.

Oh, and all you folk with WHs - there are two rear springs in the Dobinsons range, a "stock" and a "heavy duty", the latter is specified as being the required one for the XH but is optional for the WH.

I have just picked up my XH after a lift with the Terraflex spacer kit and Bilstein shocks front and rear. I have only done one measurement at the lowest point on the front protection steel plate and it has gone from 194 mm before to 285 mm after the lift. 245/70 tyres will give me a further 12mm (if I can make up my mind between Cooper St and Mickey Thomson ATZ.

Alfred, did they not measure it for you when the work is done? Everywhere I know of does before and after measurements as part of the warranty work (although if you used the stock springs sag should not be an issue and the shocks will provide better suspension travel but no extra height).

Standard way of measuring is from the ground to the pinnacle of the wheel arch.

Re stock springs sag:

The other Commander we have in the club has lost about 20 mm due to sag in his original springs. He has replaced the front springs with stiffer ones and are thinking about the rear springs as well.

Guys, just got back from another long trip in the XH towing the van. The setup works really well with the Dobinsons springs and the coopers 245/70 R17 tyres. Have done 45000kms now and no obvious droop, though I didn't measure them originally. Just need to get the shocks done at some point, as the OEM shocks can get a bit bouncy.

Jammy the Bilsteins are still the only ones to have front shocks available. I'm rapt withe handling change and they match the Dobinsons really well. Don't wait .
