4.1 would be a much better ratio for the petrol manual. it turns the diesel into a real beast. the diesel could carry a higher gearing, but the petrol has 300nm as opposed to the diesel 400nm and it revs much higher. to my mind the 4.1 ratios are ideal and a "must have" on the petrol. make the change mate, they fit in the same diff housing. available now through dealers and aftermarket like wooders. it will seem like a different vehicle.

What sort of dollars are you up for to change ratios?

You can check it out on jeepkonnection or wooders.. From memory it's about 430 bucks from jeepkonnection for the parts alone.

I'm curious about upgrading the gear ratios on my auto to 4.11 gears.. How do you go about installing those?

I have a sport manual petrol, so I believe I have the 3.21...
I have been driving manual cars for 15 years and when I got my JK from the dealer last year I've let it stall 5 times on my way home (I didn't let a car stall that many times not even when I was learning how to drive)...
Reversing up an incline is almost impossible without burning the clutch...

We know the benefits of the higher ratios offroad, what about for city driving? Would it resolve my problems??
Or is it a problem with my clutch????

I learnt quickly after trying to reverse my boat up the driveway at home that I was best to engage 4L so as to reduce the ratio to a level where I can release the clutch fully and let it walk back up the slope. Otherwise the constant feathering of the clutch become tiresome and invariably leads to burning the clutch.

They needed to pass the green test to sell in Arnyland.

MMMM luv to have 4.58 lockers .. would make all the diff. LOL

There is no way enough engine break in the V^sport and you you have to keep tabbin the break ... which is no good on the lsippery slopes ...
