Default Funny Clutch Noise

My clutch is making some 'Funny' noises when depressed, it is a little hard to describe it so I have recorded and uploaded it :

http://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0BzDl...YjE2OWY0&hl=en

It is like a squeaking door hinge...and it starts after a while when driving on city traffic. Clutch seems to be normal, it is just the noise...

Anyway, Dealer said it is the clutch plate, but this is not covered by warranty anymore.

1. I don't trust the dealer, so I would like a second opinion? Anyone agree or disagree with Dealer 'diagnosis'?

2. I want to find a mechanic that I can trust in Sydney, preferably with Jeep/JK experience and not too far from the CBD. Please PM if you can recommend someone.

I love my JK, my biggest issue with it was the performance on sand, but removing the J6 and J7 fuses makes it unstoppable.

there is a tsb or recall relating to a "chirp" on "tip in". just as you let the clutch out on changing up gears, it will make a little chirp or squeak noise. It is covered by warranty, i had mine replaced because of this.

Your Throw Out Bearing is wacked. The noise you are describing is squeeking or chirping noise when you depress the clutch in and out. Your Clutch Disc might also be weak but definately the Throw Out bearing.

Dont be surprised if the noise starts coming again after the replacing the Throw Out Bearing and Clutch Disc.

Here are the 2 TSB you need One for Clutch Disc and other for Throw Out bearing.

Do yourself a favour and install a new after market clutch kit with stock throw out bearing.

PM me if you are interested I have a Clutch & Pressure Plate to replace your stock clutch, Its a heavy duty clutch system.

J6 & J7 will disable the traction Control and will let the wheels spin

Thanks mate ! I will definitely PM you about the heavy duty clutch...

The description of the throw out bearing TSB is probably the closest one to what is happening with my JK...no load is needed for the noise, actually even if the engine is OFF the noise is there...

Mine made the same noise at about 10,000ks. After another 10,000 is shat itself. Start saving some coins unless you can get it under warrenty, even then i would suggest an heavy duty after market one like centerforce - http://www.centerforce.com/newsevent...5.311108075111
or spec - http://www.specclutch.com/cars/Jeep/...er/2008/Single. Just replaced mine with a spec clutch and its great!
