Default Steering knock felt through accelerator

Hi All,

Have an intermittent problem, when I turn the steering wheel either side just off centre I feel a "knock" through the accelerator. I have read a bit about a steering knock felt due to wrong grease used in steering spline or something but I dont feel the knock through the steering wheel so much as the accelerator. As far as I was aware the JK has fly by wire throttle so has me stumped what it could be? Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks,

Ash.

behind the plastic there is a large alloy housing which is bolted to the firewall.

I found that in mine this whole alloy dash frame was moving when the body flexed. I pulled stuff apart and tightened just about every nut i could find under the dash and also in the engine bay along the firewall.

This reduced the feeling significantly but it still exists. I now ignore it like most other vibrations and rattles.

take it in to the dealer for warranty, there is a common fault with the steering shaft. the spline on the slip yoke wears allowing a slight amount of free movement in either direction creating the clunk. They will replace the steering shaft to fix it.
