Di, have you thought of pinching one out of AB's rig(and fitting it) to determine if the sensor is the culprit?

Be aware that there is a recall out for some wranglers concerning thoes issues. Apparently they wired it wrong and Jeep have to wire in a new harniss plug. So i would go down to your local STEELERSHIP first and give them your vin and ask them to check if there are any outstanding recalls, also mention the wiring harniss issue

if that was the case you would reckon it would be playing up all the time.
would be interesting to know more about this and if anyone has some info

it may be a sticking stat, although odd it's only at highway speeds, that usually indicates a a plugged radiator, not enough coolant flowing thru it as some of the tubes are blocked.

the temp gauge isnt accurate anyway as it doesnt read real temperatures and tends to take average readings then swings over to red when heat has building up for some time. the only way to know for sure is to fit an independant gauge that measures real temperatures
