Default i CAN handle the truth...

if i could just get it from someone. my 04 grand cherokee diesel is on its 2nd set of front rotors. the 1st set went at 15kms, apparently warped, and were changed under warranty. the 2nd set were worn out and replaced at my cost of $750 yesterday at 49kms.
the dealer reckons 30kms is the 'usual' life expectancy of rotors and i should start saving the next set. something about suface area, lack of asbestos in the pad composition, blah, blah, blah
can anyone tell me the truth?

I had similar distance from mine on the 03 model. I put mine down to going thru water about 200mm deep on a run with Happyguts. Pretty innocuous little creek crossing but it was enough to warp the rotors. The explanation I was given by an independent brake service mechanic, was that the rotors are simply too thin thus warp easily. Because they're so thin, they cant be machined like the good old, meaty HQ Holden types. I was told it's a pretty common thing on a lot of different car brands. Like that eases our pain or something

Do a search for "DBA" rotors. Quite a few guys here have put them on and are very happy with them.

DBA rotors are good.
Used to have them on my BMW 7 series. Had the same issue with soft/thin discs that would warp if going through water when hot.

Never a problem with the DBAs.
