Default 99 xj steering box

Hi All... I gotta 99 sport 4.0L with a really sloppy steering setup..Ive noticed the splined shaft out of the steering box that connects to the pitman arm has a lot of play in it.[and it leaks fluid] ..it moves L and R sideways a coupla mm when you turn the the column...Been told new and 2nd hand boxes are not available..Was also told I need 99 specific as nothing else will fit????....pretty sure the bearing in the box above pitman arm is shot...Question is..Will other years boxes fit? I would rather rebuild this one myself if kits were available ..Any ideas..Ive rebuilt auto trannys in the past so a steering box couldnt be that hard ! Lots of gear available in US but all LHD ..Anyhow if anybody out there can help would be greatly appreciated Thanks
