If the tank fuel pump failed the diesel motor would stop almost immediately. The WK2 s have a very good twin fuel filter and water seperator. Failure of the injector pump is a different story all together.There have been reports of these pumps failing o/s,
I hate to say it but there may be more to this story than we know .eg poor diesel fuel,have fuel filters changed ,water drained from fuel filters.Petrol in fuel.? I also think from FCAs point of view that any comment now may be premature.

It’s a 2013 build, and it’s now 2019 - so this thing is only 5-6 years old and is utterly worthless.

I have an ongoing fault in mine which Jeep failed to diagnose or repair under warranty, despite more trips to the dealer than I can recall. It’s dragged in for so long it’s now out of warranty, and Jeep are putting up resistance to fixing the issue on that basis. It’s a 2014 build - next year I could find myself in the same situation as those poor bastards.

Am I a “Jeep Basher”? Hell yes - my learned experience is you’re literally gambling your money when you give it to a Jeep Dealer. The sad part is, I used to be a Jeep promoter and would have recommended them to anyone who’d listen. Over the course of owning one vehicle, they’ve flipped me and I now tell anybody who’ll listen that buying a Jeep was the biggest purchasing mistake of my life.

Someone said it sounds like another Jeep bashing story, I have to agree, a 2013 stuffed motor $40k to fix. Sounds like a brain fart on someones part.

As for engine problems anyone heard of D4D's or 200 oil issues, or 3.0L hand grenades.
People need to get a life and if they don't like Jeeps don't buy one, get a Toyota or a Nissan or anything else.
30 years ago I bought a Japanese vehicle that burnt 1litre of oil every 1000Klm, when I approached their head office I was told that was acceptable, so I sold it and I've never bought another of that manufacturers vehicles.
But I haven't bagged them on the internet for the last 30 years, because mine may have been just a bad example.
To think Jeep has more problems than any other manufacturer, is some what childlike mentality IMO.

With the issue I have had with mine I understand the diesel HP fuel pump fitted at the front of the Diesel engine and they have a problem where the bearing fails and sends metal depending on the failure either through the injectors or it gets caught in the gauze filter in the pressure control sensor, if the latter then the engine and injectors May be ok however the fuel return line and fuel tank will need to be flushed. Jeep were saying there was metal in the M prop sensor or did they just look in the pressure control sensor as that is easy to get to, so that doesn’t sound good, but are they guessing after all they first blamed the battery and changed it. I really question there actual technical ability

$47,000 is just ridiculous, as with all things they just want to change out everything (same as mine) and cover there diagnostics

In 2013 they were selling 1200 to 1400 JGC a month then all went wrong and they had ordered a lot of MY15 they couldn’t sell that’s why you could still buy an MY15 into the start of 2017. And still they don’t get it with sales around the 300 to 400 a month, customer service is a big thing

I've had a chance to read my workshop manual and have discovered that the 3lt diesel does indeed, sadly, have the LP fuel pump in the tank with a filter all non serviceable, this fuel then goes thru the twin 3 mic water/fuel filter on the chassis which is servicable, I was assuming like earlier ones the fuel pump wasn't in the tank which is a real bummer I reckon but I find it hard to believe anything solid would get past the twin filters but the HP pump thats another thing.

Those links show a real horror story don't they.
