Slid over a rock and damaged the chassis, cut the wiring loom, buckled the radiator mount, snapped the lower control arm and bent the sway bar and front shock, damn rock also buckled a wheel and killed my bumper.

$25k repair bill so got payed out. Sucks, loved that car and the 7 years of adventures it allowed me to have.

Ouch, that seems an excessive repair bill? How bent was the chassis? How big was the drop onto the rock?

Didn't seem too bad to me, but I am no professional, first rock was about a foot high second was almost 3 feet, lucky it stopped me though, next stop was a huge gum.

Replaced the brushes in my alternator as the old ones died at the hand of a water/mud crossing and put in a dual battery monitor in the boot so I can keep an eye on whats happening under the bonnet when i'm at camp.

Very nice. Yep, makes you wonder what they were thinking having the alternator down below.
