As an old dirt bike rider I remember this same type of sound and feel from the bad old days of crappy Japanese suspension on my Suzuki TS250. It was "Topping Out". It was the sound of the suspension extending to its limits and making that horrible knocking sound. From memory we fixed it by adding extra oil to the forks. I can't believe it can happen in this century!

I haven't looked under the Jeep at the suspension (a job for tomorrow), but all I can imagine is that adjustable shocks would be the most likely cure where you can increase the "rebound " setting (which slows the extension of the shock). I am assuming that when raised the extra 2" or so leaves less allowable travel in the shocks as they are already at 3/4 of their travel. The internals haven't as much time to slow down their extension.

Has anyone looked at this or checked adjustable shocks on the Quadralift?

I bought the car only 6 months ago as a demo so I am still working things out. Not as simple as my Wrangler was!!!!
the knocking noise is normal on a QLII equipped jeep when at full height and nothing to worry about

Thanks for the replies. I thought it was normal but it is not a pleasant sound. I think it is poor design really.

A question for 55zed, have you got the Quadralift suspension?

Thanks, John

I don't know that a shock mount can create such a problem. Although it's always good to replace the wear out parts as soon as possible.
