Wow ... my WK2 3.0L diesel since removing the DDF, fitting an iDrive, removing the rear mufflers & getting the ECU re-flashed by ECU West puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. If I put it in 'Sport' mode, turn the iDrive to 'U9" then hold the foot brake on, bury the right foot on the throttle, get her up to 3000K then let my foot off the brake it will actually spin the wheels on take off ! I NEVER dreamt that a little V6 diesel would put a smile on my face like this car does
Compared to the ECU West test vehicle:

Well, either way, I'm extremely happy with the performance of this rig, I really enjoy driving it. The Mrs had her first crack in it on the weekend, couldn't believe how much bigger it is compared to the WJ, and how quick it is. Now she wants to drive it all the time, gonna have to hide my keys I think.

I agree the WK2 is a far superior drive to my 'Wobbly Jeep' WJ, but when I hop into the WJ V8 these days....I usually kangaroo hop it when I first press the throttle LOL. The fly by wire throttle on the WK2 is crap.

Troutman, I'm surprised your WK2 is that bad mate. I've had a multitude of chariots over many years including diesel and petrol 4x4's and I'd say the WK2 3.0 even in its raw form is a better performer off the line than many. Add idrive and it becomes properly mind blowing (no other mods needed imo).
Friend has a LC200 Sahara V8, 50k on the clock, nice performer. I've driven it, and launching with the magic button down is about the same as my V6 with the idrive on Auto setting. Around town I prefer a more modest U3 setting otherwise it's a bit scary. Never tried U8 or U9 settings, but I reckon I'd need new underwear...

I'm thinking the iDrive is what I need to look at mate. My WK2 is a shocker off the line, but belts along once you get going. I remember reading the WK2 specs before buying one and seeing that it was supposedly faster to 100kmh than the V8 WJ.....I just can't believe how that is possible.

I tell my wife, it's there for her to drive and to put fuel in. That's stops her
