Assuming everything in terms of fuel, air, ignition, turbo etc is 'tuned' and functioning correctly (and I'm sure yours would be), idrive shouldn't disappoint.

Add idrive and it becomes properly mind blowing (no other mods needed imo).

Friend has a LC200 Sahara V8, 50k on the clock, nice performer. I've driven it, and launching with the magic button down is about the same as my V6 with the idrive on Auto setting. Around town I prefer a more modest U3 setting otherwise it's a bit scary. Never tried U8 or U9 settings, but I reckon I'd need new underwear...
i drive around with mine on u9 , anything else seems pointless

Yep, entirely personal choice. Depends on what you want from the car. I'm not really interested in speed per se, or blazing launches, but I do like the total elimination of even the slightest throttle lag, and I like what it does for getting the power down (torque, actually) when towing 2.5t of van.

I'm with you Southern Comfort, my days of throwing a uni's or hub are long gone, I know this rig will take off at a blistering speed, especially when a slug is 3 cars in front and no one will overtake, it will go from 70 to 100 before I even get level with the one in front of me, throttle lag is only a problem at intersections but a bit of fancy foot work can displace it, T intersections when it kicks in can be bluddy scary if you don't watch it, would like an i drive but can spend the money better elsewhere like fuel........lol,lol. if I lived where there is traffic and lights I certainly would, nearest lights are 60 km away, 3 kms and I'm in the 100 zone.......

My wife just says bad luck, fill her up yourself and thinks it's payback for me driving her car, haha. Time for a new wife I think

Interesting to know that you're not using more fuel on the high settings.

It occurred to me early on that idrive instantly turns your mild-mannered 3.0 GC into a sleeper. I don't care about that personally, but it's probably handy to know the beast is lurking under there if you need it to get you out of a mess - fast. With U8/U9 (even auto mode imo) you'd out gun just about anything. I find overtaking even in auto mode feels like she's had a shot of nitro.
