I have the Rubicon and love it, but the 460NM deisel certainly is appealing for the type of touring/towing I do, but wasn't an option when I bought mine!

I would think that lockers front and rear would set you back around $3000.

You can get the off road pack diesel with electronic sway bar disconnect and rear locker, but the Rubicon still has the advantage of a 4.1 transfer case and a meatier D44 up front.

Why they didn't offer the diesel Rubicon option is beyond me!!!!

everytime i have asked about the offroad package i either get quoted as saying that doesnt exist anymore ( holland park) or saying it would be a looooong wait ( albion)
which is cool, but its a BIG mission to convince the mrs to get a wrangler and when we go to order it if she finds out there is a 6 month wait forget it! lol we will be playing it safe seeing what happens with the fiat takeover and also with the economy...when it feels a little safer to buy ( more so in regards to my job rather than the fiat takeover) we will order one.
Like i said before i was always more interested in the rubicon, having those factory lockers etc seems awesome....but lately i guess from reading a few articles like the one in overlander ive been more and more interested int he crd.

I would have got the Rubicon if they offered it with a CRD. If you're dead set on a CRD (and its goto be the way to go), get one and add the fancy bits aftermarket. You'll end up with a better vehicle (minus D44 and low range gears) in the end anyways.

Well fellas, I can tell ya, you can get the factory rear diff lock on the CRD, but to get it takes a 7 month wait. We ordered ours in Nov, and it should be ready for pick up in mid may..hopefully.
So if you really want it, be prepared to wait...

go the rubi. They rock and eat CRD for breakfast (fire up boys)!!
I have a rubi and i am more than happy with the petrol all though a little more grunt wouldnt go astray but pretty unstoppable offroad. With what you get for the price its the best option IMHO.
Even without the lockers though the traction system works very well and will go alot more places than a stock patrol or cruiser and i will vouch for that from first hand experience!!
