There is no direct comparison with the different models, only the way each car behaved in the test. They passed, Jeep failed, as did the Hilus and A180. Just remember that the previous model Grand Cherokee passed, they are not trying to beatup on Jeep only highlighting a serious safety issue.
Buy you doubters can keep making excuses.

I think that we all understand your point here Enforcer. Without doubt, what we saw on the video is real and is a safety issue. But our (or at least mine) disagreement is with the comparison of models. Jeep has the highest centre of gravity and that's obvious. How much lower do we want the 4WD's to go because it's not safe (if, God forbid!) there's a violent manoeuvre.

The previous (WH) model sits very low and you can't even take it to the moderate rated 4WD tracks with the stock clearance it has. It passed the test - but, 1, it has 29.5" tyres as standard and 2, it's 2" shorter in height. The height alone suggests lower CoG. The smaller tyres lower the axle height, which also affects the CoG. I don't think that my WH would pass that test now either, after gaining 2" in suspension lift and almost an additional 1" in higher axle height due to larger tyres. I raised it because of the need for clearance, it's a 4WD. If I wanted a car-like SUV, then I'd look into the AWD market or even go for a large sedan or station wagon.

That's where this comparison fails as it's comparing different vehicles. This to us suggests under-the-table dealings. To make it fair, they should've compared 4WD's with 4WD's and I'm pretty sure that some other 4WD's would fail that test. By Jeep doing the side wheel stands, it's definitely unsafe "IF" (as stated before) this would ever happen. Then even if they address the issue, it is us, the owners who would stuff it up afterwards anyway, by installing lifts, larger tyres, etc. In the end, it's a 4WD. It's meant to be higher, it's meant to have clearance, etc.

Ummm, I dont get it. If you are that concerned, sell it and get a territory, im sure you will be safer. Easier than telling everyone who doesnt believe a MAGAZINE's testing is ignorant.

Based on MAGAZINE testing and their perfect accuracy im going out to buy a toyota and fit it with everything ironman and an avenger winch and arb air compressor and it will be perfect and never fail. Because they are never biased or affected by advertising revenue or agendas

Im not saying the WK2 may or may not have a problem, but i certainly wont base my judgement on anything less than an ANCAP style testing procedure when it comes to that.

Certainly not worth getting aggro with people who dont believe it.

Lets face it, you have more chance of hitting a Moose on the road than you do sitting in the lounge at home, so im staying there and cracking another can open

I'm sure there will be many and varied opinions, however there's an article on jeepgarage.org where a german auto standards test coutered the Swedes Moose test. Jeez, I hope this doesn't start a intercountry fight!!!!!
