Yes I know your pain. Your either a Jeep person or your not. The Jeep badge brings with it a reputation - good and bad. Most of the bad is simply exageration by the competitors who wish they had the reputation for toughness and offroad ability; and by people who bought something else trying to justify their purchase. If your the type that plays life safe, buy a Toyota. Jeep brings a lifestyle statement but one very different to that of the Patrol (which lately seems to be mainly bought by grey nomads to tow the caravan around Oz). The Laredo will do the same job as a tow horse, but its many other things as well (and most of all its a Jeep).

Mate i've learnt you're gonna get it anywhere you go if you've got a jeep. I was a 4wd park on the weekend with a toyota mate and everywhere we went i copped it bigtime from toyota & nissan owners. People would just yell out as they drove past "Jeeps are shiat!" "Didn't know those POS's went offroad!" "Why don't you go and do the XXX comp tracks in your POS!" "Doesn't matter if you write it off, it's only a jeep!" "Get a toyota you POOF!" I just smiled and went on my way without a word...

Even though i went everywhere everyone else went and i didn't break down or catch fire, that didn't stop the insults all day. I guess such abuse only comes from brain dead morons who have no social grace...

You will find the knockers are just jealous, when ever you go out 4x4'ing all the owners of other manufacturers stand around and watch the Jeeps, Wives or g/f's standing close by asking them why they cant do that??

When i was looking for my jeep i asked all the mechanics i know what they thaught of jeeps. Answer- pieces of shit why would you want one of those. So then i asked them what they had actually had to fix on a jeep. Most of them said "nothing" but i heard they had problems. The ones that had actually fixed things mentioned radiators,thermostats,crank sensors and tps sensors.
I sell auto parts and i sell all the mentioned parts and some for all the other makes of carsall the time and rarely sell anything for a jeep.
After that i got my Xj and i love it.
