Or use that headlight lens protection stuff, the stick on plastic stuff thats about 2mm thick, stick it to 2 sides and bingo no noise, alternatively use the old method, a beer can opened up and wrapped around the hitch then slammed into the housing. lol, lol

I just took my XJ on the beach alot, through salt water crossings then onto dirt roads and i have found that rust did the job for me! lol

Took a 6 foot crowbar recently to get the tongue out. All cleaned up now and knocking away beautifully. I am about to do the old 'weld a nut trick' on it to stop it from knocking.

Hi Turismo07, I have a WH with a genuine Mopar hitch, it has a bolt in the centre underneath as standard. I'm surprised that the WJ does not, however I concur that Hayman Reese method of a bolt in the bottom corner is the way to go, yes, they do wear with much towing - just re-tighten.

I believe that the "bolt" is no longer legal, so those that have it were made b4 this ruling. My XJ made this noise but my WJ does not; niether has this bolt, guess some have more play than others.

I bought a towbar from Jeep 2 weeks ago for my JK and it has a bolt underneath.
Before I bought the bar from Jeep I phoned a few different Towbar shops around Perth telling them I was looking for one with the bolt and they didn't mention anything about legality they simple said the only people that put bolts in them are Hayman Reese or genuine Jeep.
Jeep was over $100 cheaper so I went for the Genuine one.
If there is a legal issue (and I would be surprised if there was) it's not in WA.
