Default Jeep and Victoria Police Join Forces to Protect Snow Fields

Once again, Jeep and Victoria Police join forces to serve and protect the thousands of visitors who will visit the amazing Victorian snow fields in 2008, including Mt Buller, Mt Hotham and Falls Creek.

The vehicle of choice in 2008 is the all-new Jeep Cherokee Police four wheel drive which had its first assignment on Mt Buller over the weekend.

“We had the Jeep Wrangler last year and thought that we should continue our partnership as the Jeep was perfect for the alpine awareness program; and fantastic on the beach during the summer.” said Sergeant Adrian Keltie of the Victoria Police of the Media & Corporate Communications Department.

Mt Buller ramped up their celebrations for the opening weekend of the 2008 w inter s now s eason on June 7th . Based in the village s quare the festivities delivered a wide range of entertainment for all ages.

During the festivities the dynamic Victorian Police band ‘Code 1’ created an amazing atmosphere attracting crowds from various resorts. Visitors were encouraged to enhance the security of their skis and snowboards by getting them engraved by Victoria Police. The Police offered TAC driver safety information along with snow safe giveaways and activities.

The new Cherokee is an operational police vehicle which replaces the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited utilised by Victoria Police in 2007. The vehicle will be used by the Victorian Police throughout the 2008's now season to promote snow safety and target drink driving.

“With its outstanding off-road capability, we know that the new Jeep Cherokee will live up to the job,” said Keltie.

Opening Weekend at Mt Buller featured the official launch of Australia’s first high speed six seat chairlift showing off the $6 million investment, that can get skiers up to the summit in four minutes, slashing the previous time of 15 minutes. This will be the first lift at Mt Buller to operate on 100 percent green power.

Victoria Police will be seen at the snow fields over the following dates/mountains; subject to weather/snow and unforeseen operational situations that may occur.

I think its great, shows the public that when the going gets rough the comode doors are crap and only a Jeep will do. If you're gonna get booked it may as well be in style.

Still think they should have hung onto the JK though
