Default cutting body work... its has begun. Last update 25/5

What would be the best tool to cut body panels?? The only thing i could think of was a die grinder with a small cutting wheel on it, what do u think? Dont want to use a grinder, and would a jigsaw be to rough on panels and paint.

A Dremel can do anything, it is the leatherman of the power tool world

I cut some clearence for the gear stick in my tub using the dremel

I have seen it done with a Jig saw using a fine metal blade or a sawall

Masking tape along the cut line makes the jig saw a lot less jagged

I think most pannel beaters use a air driven recipocating saw ??????

DIY, just cut the front panels on the XJ and did a good job using a grinder.
Started off with a jigsaw but the panel kept jumping around and did not end up nice and straight. So on went the grinder, was a bit worried about paint chipping but we only did samee lines of about 3 inches so the paint is fine.Otherwise i would suggest a high powered dremmel with a metal cutting tip, also works wonders.
