are you sure about that?

going by my spec sheet the 117 alternator was only available with a "package" such as Renegade, Extreme Sport, Golden Eagle etc. the base model Sport didnt get the higher output alt

Well that's interesting!
Here is an extract of my ('97 Sport) build sheet.
I can only guess yours is a later year TJ and Jeep put a lower amp alt in them but I was under the impression all Ozzie Jeeps got the higher amp alternator.
My '97 is definitely a 'Sport' btw.

My two cents, not including GST,

Mean green is over rated, I had one, it now takes up space in land fill somewhere (Bearings collapsed).
Tuff Alternators are principally the same as Mean Green but less the brand higher price.
As Border Dave suggests go a Dodge Durango out of the states, or check Rock Auto.
I am pretty sure there is a Grand Cherokee Alternator that will work.

As every one states, do your research.

Ended up with the mean green, got a solid price. I'll see how it goes.
