Talking '02 Cherokee questions....

Hello all!

I have just purchased an '02 Cheorkee (Liberty) Limited Edition. I imported it form Japan so I have to change the stereo due to their 76Mhz - 90Mhz FM band :grr I have 2 questions for y'all:

1: How many of you have the full time 4wd option in your KJs?
2: DO you know if there are amplifiers on the back of the front door speakers or are they just normaly wired to the stereo?

Thank you

Oliver

Howdy!
I have just received a response also from the US stating the Infinity system had the amp under the rear seat. My truck only has 6 speakers including the tweeters in the dash. I have my suspicions that the Jap spec trucks don't do amps on the speakers. Hmmm the plot thickens......

Hi,
Yep, that's the impression I am getting too. So, that will make it way easier to swap the speakers for something better. There are some not too expensive Sonys and Pioneers about at the mo so .....

Thanks all

hi

If you have Infinity sound system/amp set up the front speakers will have little amps which mount on the back of them (with star screws/bolts)

So if you pull out your speaker youll know for sure whether you have an amp

See this post regarding installing aftermarket speakers and how to bypass the factory bolted-on speaker amps if needed:

I currently have the same problem I have pulled my speaker's out to
find the the little amps.
Problem 1 :- without the amp's you loose at alot of power/volume
Problem 2 :- the rear door speaker's are also powered by the amp
Problem 3 :- odd sized hole for a 6 inch speaker (will need 6.5 in)
Problem 4 :- lot's of rewiring
Problem 5 :- speaker depth
I am going to buy a good quality set of 6.5 componet speaker's checking
the magnet size as I go. Then my intension is remount the amp in the door
(will need to bust up the old speaker) and extend the speaker wire's from the
amp. The wiring loom has enough length.
