No worries boys,
Good police stories. I think we’ve all had our fair share of run ins.

Wrestled with my scanner project today. First prototype didn’t work...it’s all a tight fit and got jammed up. Hopefully the Mark II model works a little better and the scanner can come up and out of the centre console.

Cheers,

All that needs doing now is fitting the console section back in and adding the wiring.

Man, that was a fun, but awkward project. Bloody scanner is so big, it didn’t want to fit in such a small spot. And I had to incorporate the cup holders and access into the rest of the console.

Anyway, worked out OK in the end and looking forward to what live data I can get while driving in the old OBD1 Jeep.

Cheers,

And now the scanner fitted in the centre console, which is fitted in the car. Yet to be wired up...but making progress.

And on a side note... the never ending compass/ambient temp overhead console saga.
Received the new one today, and it works...but the two tactile switches are buggered. I can swap them out with a solder job, but another pain....

You're going to have a better diagnostic setup than the new one's. And yours wont strand you if it decides to take a sick day.

Hey Oldon, your not going to believe this....

I took my boy and his mate to boxing this afternoon, and on the way home she decided to have a Sick day.
Spluttered and konked out and wouldn't start back up. Luckily I coasted ofF the side of the road into a grassy spot. No codes would come up, and I don’t have the scanner wired up yet.

It felt ignition related. I knew I had the new crank sensor installed, so I revisited the distributor. Removed the cap, and the rotor button felt loose. I swapped out the cam sensor, and rotor button and she fired back up and is running well again.

I don’t know if that was the root problem, but it sounds like I Rockauto order coming up for plugs, leads, coil, cap, button and any other ignition related parts.

Will post up any updates...

Cheers,

She broke down on me twice today. Both times while I had my motocross bike on the trailer.
First time, the Jeep was cold, and I was only 20 meters up the street. She started back up after a few minutes. No codes. Second time, she was warm. Still no codes. I swapped out the large relays for the fuel pump and ASD for the aux fan and aircon relays. She started straight back up.

Not sure what’s going on, but seems if I wait a couple of minutes, she fires back up.

Gotta love the random intermittent gremlin. I’ll have to do a bit of research. She always starts first kick, and purs and runs like a kitten at all times. Just randomly stumbles and stalls.

Got a message from Rockauto and parts already on the way... just in time.

Cheers,
