Cold oil will register a higher pressure..highest oil pressure is at initial start up...pressure will drop as engine and oil 'warm up'.

Yeah, I know I over service mine...I still try to do oil and filter at 5,000 kms, but have stretched the time frame out now to 120 days...4 months instead of 3 months, I was changing the oil often at under 4000 kms.
Will see how i go on this trip, I am near Mackay atm staying at Cape Hillsborough, I am figuring I'll have around 5,500 k's up by the time I get to Broome since last oil change in about a months time when I'll do the oil and filter again...

Nice to hear from you and pissed off your at Hillsborough and on holidays...you skite !....lol....you cant REALLY 'over-service'....it just ensures the oil is at its 'premium' viscosity and all the shyte in the oil is not circulating in bits it shouldnt get at...thats NOT a bad thing....
Was thinking about Drovers post on changing the oil filter only on his travels when approaching the end of a service cycle....that is definitely one benefit with the filter on top of the engine...no need to drop the sump oil to change the filter as you would with the filter located under the engine....there's always a 'positive' to be found.....I u dersrand that dont have to drop ALL the sump oil to change a filter thats mounted above the sump/engine junction...but....you still have to drop some or end up with a mess n oil soaked rags on a holiday...pass...one rag to clean the filter housing and away ya go...rag in bin...smile on face...luvly !

I should get you to save your oil I could get another 5K km out of it at that rate........ Travelling your oil is going to be in better nick than farting around in the city .....

I am missing the regular post reads already! Yeah, you are totally right Farwest...can't "overservice" at all.
...long hot running is a whole lot better than farting around the Burbs as you wrote drover!
I should start a new thread covering my "adventures"...or "misadventures",. which ever is closer...lol

The oil appears to stay a lot cleaner in my 2012 WK Grand Cherokee Diesel than
my 2010 WH Grand Cherokee with the Mercedes motor. These motors are known for blowby gasses. If I left oil changes to 10000 ks it would be like black paint!
